We assist you in accessing programs, services, and incentives for clean energy, energy efficiency, home electrification, and sustainable transportation. By contacting the Home Modernization Navigator, you are agreeing to share your information with MassCEC, Abode Energy Management, and All In Energy solely for the purposes of providing you with Home Modernization Navigator services. Energy Bill Check-Up
A no-cost service to help you better understand your energy bills, ensure you’re not paying more than you should, and connect you to cost-reduction programs.
Municipal Aggregation
The Cities of Chelsea, Framingham, Lowell and Springfield have municipal aggregation programs called Community Choice Electricity Programs. The cities purchase electricity on behalf of their residents.
Current rates are lower than the standard National Grid or Eversource electric rates. All residents of Chelsea, Framingham, Lowell and Springfield are automatically signed up for their Community Choice Electricity Program unless they have opted out or signed a contract with a different competitive electricity supplier.
The City of Lynn does not currently have a municipal aggregation program. While the City of Taunton does not offer municipal aggregation, residents benefit from being served by the publicly owned Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant. As a not-for-profit utility, TMLP secures electricity through long-term contracts and reinvests revenues into the system, helping maintain reliable service and rates that are typically less volatile than competitive market options.

Buying Clean Electricity
Buying clean electricity means purchasing power from renewable sources like wind or solar, thus reducing or eliminating the carbon impact of your electricity. You may have options for buying clean electricity through municipal aggregation, your electric utility, community solar, the Green Energy Consumers’ Alliance Green Powered Program, or a third-party electric supply company.
Third-Party Electric Supply Companies
In Massachusetts, you may choose to purchase electricity for your home directly from an electricity supplier that is not your electric utility or local municipal aggregation program. These other electricity suppliers are commonly called “third-party electricity suppliers.” They often offer rates that are initially lower than the basic service from your electric utility or municipal aggregation programs but have been found to ultimately be more expensive. The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office has found that Massachusetts consumers on third-party supply contracts have spent $577.6 million more than they would have on their electric utility’s basic service rate since 2018. Some third-party electric supply contracts are as much as 3 times more expensive than rates for the basic service your utility provides. We can help you understand who you’re currently paying for your electricity and if stable, lower-cost rates are available from other providers.

An energy-efficient dryer that recycles warm air to dry clothes.
Heat Pump Water Heater
A high efficiency electric hot water heater that heats water by transferring heat from the air into a water tank.
Induction Cooking
An electric cooktop that uses magnetic fields to directly heat cookware, offering fast and efficient cooking. An induction stove can boil water in ~2 minutes or less, compared to 5-8 minutes on a traditional stove.
Battery-Powered Outdoor Equipment
Outdoor tools like lawn mowers and leaf blowers that run on rechargeable batteries, lowering emissions and noise.
Insulation and Air Sealing
Insulating and air sealing your walls, attic, and basement reduces the loss of hot air in the winter and cool air in the summer. These upgrades can reduce energy costs, enhance comfort, and improve indoor air quality and health.
Windows and Other Home Improvements
Replacing or better insulating windows, doors, roof, and duct work can prevent energy loss and lower energy costs.
Air-Source Heat Pumps
Electric heating and cooling systems that use outdoor air temperatures to efficiently heat and cool your home. Cold-climate air-source heat pumps are designed to work well all winter long in Massachusetts.
Ground-Source Heat Pumps
Heating and cooling systems that tap into stable underground temperatures to provide the most efficient heating and cooling option for your home.
Community Solar
Community solar gives you access to solar energy produced at a nearby solar farm (a large array of solar panels), which lowers your electricity bills without installing panels on your roof.
Solar on Your Roof
Rooftop solar panels that generate electricity from sunlight.
Battery Storage
Batteries installed in your home that store electricity from your solar panels or from the grid for later use. Battery storage provides electricity in a power outage and earns you monetary incentives for using your batteries.
Solar Hot Water
A rooftop system that uses the sun’s energy to heat water for household use, reducing energy bills.
Electrical Service Upgrades
New appliances, such as solar, heat pumps or high efficiency electric appliances, can sometimes require more power than is readily available. Electrical service upgrades increase the amount of electricity that can come into your home from the grid so your home’s electrical system can safely handle more energy needs.
Wiring Updates
Knob and tube wiring can increase the risk of fires and get in the way of adding more insulation to your home. Disconnect and remove old wiring for better safety and to take advantage of energy efficiency programs. Like electrical service, the wiring in your home can also be upgraded to add an induction stove, a heat pump hot water heater, or a heat pump for heating and cooling your home.
Electric Bicycles
Bikes equipped with a motor to assist with pedaling, making longer or uphill rides easier.
ValleyBike
Springfield’s e-bike sharing program, ValleyBike, makes exploring the city and commuting more sustainable and convenient.
Electric Vehicles and Electric Vehicle Charging
Battery-powered vehicles are fueled by electricity stored in a battery. They have zero tailpipe emissions and offer the same, or better performance than gas-powered vehicles.
